If you are interested in buying wild-caught Oregon Chinook salmon and albacore, I want to let you know about a new company in Newport that is re-thinking the way fish is made available to the public. Moonshine Park Fish (www.moonshineparkfish.com) buys hook-and-line-caught fish from Newport-based fishing vessels (paying a premium to the fishermen for special handling). They flash-freeze it in high quality vacuum packs, creating a product that is far superior to the frozen-and-defrosted fish-counter stuff. An order comes into Portland about once a month, and that’s happening this Sunday, February 19.
If you’d like some great fish, and to support this locavore venture, you can place an order on their website.
